Anti-Racism Book Circle
Monthly, 3rd Fridays at 10 am Central
Our monthly book circle exists to: hold each other accountable to the work of anti-racism, listen to our unique perspectives, and change racism starting from within ourselves first.
Group members must login for the group-only Google Meet link to appear here.
Our group is small, honest, dedicated, and committed to asking hard questions. Although I (Emily Ann Peterson) technically host it via my Google Meet account, there is no one leader in this book circle. We all co-facilitate and hold space. The books we've completed are below in the Recommended Reading.
Of course, BIPOC are welcome! There is zero expectation for any black, indigenous, or person of color to 1) read any of the books, 2) support our emotional processing, 3) explain anything to the group or 4) donate anything prior to attending. We'd just be honored and happy to have you!
Want to join sometime? Awesome!
Due to the sensitive nature of our discussions, we require new members to send an email for a signup link.
Members have agreed to contribute an amount to represent their commitment to supporting group intentions. 100% of these donations go to the Black Journalists Therapy Relief Fund (BJTRF) in partnership with the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF).
This book club is one of the best things I've been doing with the past two years of my life. Reading assignments and accountability buddies continue to expand my everyday awareness of racism, my knowledge of racist structures in America, and maybe most importantly my ability to have conversations that might actually change something.
~Rachel Marie Schachter, book circle member since 2020
Note: When possible, I love to refer folx to our recommended reading lists on Bookshop.org because they support your local bookstore! Many of these books are also available as Audiobooks too.
